Life used to be peaceful there, in the open air, but the westernmost part of the Brick realm has seen drastic changes over the past few days! The Brick Native Americans are building new maps together with Muchachos, while Sheriffs are trying to catch Bandits, preferably more dead than alive. The bullets will be flying, the spurs will be chiming, and the bricks will be climbing as soon as the first part of Season 4 is deployed on all our servers on the 5th of June.

Game CoLab Launches Incubator Program

 

PHOENIX, Arizona - April 24, 2014 - Game CoLab, a community advocate for video game developers in Arizona, announces its new game studio incubator program established with the help of an economic development grant from the City of Phoenix.

The incubator program will run through 2014 and Game CoLab will bring four teams in for this first pilot year. Teams, evaluated on their game development talent and entrepreneurial aspirations, are given space to work, take part in classes, take advantage of “office hours” with incubator leadership and mentors, and have the opportunity to attend regular networking, demonstration and pitch events.

In return, Game CoLab and the City of Phoenix hope to stimulate the local economy and game community by creating sustainable ventures and jobs.

Game CoLab is headed by Ben Reichert, Adjunct Professor at University of Advancing Technology and former Assistant Director at the Arizona State University Center for Games and Impact, and is advised by game industry veterans Mario Vassaux, game industry executive, formerly at FormGen – distributor of games like Doom and Duke Nukem 3D; Sean Kauppinen, Founder and CEO at International Digital Entertainment Agency; Marc Jackson, CEO and Founder at Seahorn Capital Group; and Brion Crum, Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch.

“Phoenix is home to a lot of great game development and industry executive talent and the Game CoLab has been a space for the community to get together and share best practices. Thanks to the City of Phoenix, the incubator program will allow us to take our work to the next level and assist local teams in the process of creating successful games and studios,” said Mr. Reichert. “We have been given the opportunity to support the video game industry in Arizona, and while the focus has so far been purely on entertainment, games can impact key economic drivers for Phoenix including health, learning and business services. The Game CoLab will be actively reaching out to other industries as well as we look to identify partners that can support our goals.”

Grave Headed To Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Linux

 

PHOENIX – April 15, 2014 - Grave, the first person surrealist-inspired horror title by Broken Window Studios has officially been adopted by the ID@Xbox program, and is scheduled to launch on the Xbox One in early 2015. The Xbox One is the first officially support console platform for Grave, in addition to its release on PC, Mac and Linux. A PC demo of the game is also currently available at: http://www.indiedb.com/games/grave/downloads


Grave is built in the Unity 3D engine, and will be taking advantage of the ID@Xbox partnership with Unity Technologies. The team is working hard to build Next-Gen visuals into the title, and plans to take advantage of many of the new lighting and shading techniques possible with the upcoming Unity 5.


The arrangement with Microsoft is not an exclusive deal, so it is likely to expect additional consoles will be announced in the near future. The goal is to offer feature parity across all consoles. The studio will provide more information as it becomes available.


Grave’s brand of surrealist dreamscape will be a unique addition to Microsoft’s console. The team’s goal is to create the “Destino” or “Eraserhead” of games, by experimenting and redefining the player’s interaction with the game’s narrative. The game is currently on Kickstarter, and is one third of the way towards completing its goal.
