Helpshift Raises $10 Million in Series A Funding to Bring CRM to Mobile Apps
Helpshift Empowers Mobile App Developers to Improve Customer Experience, Drive Higher Ratings and Retain More Users

SAN FRANCISCO - Jun 24, 2014 - Helpshift, the leading CRM for mobile apps, today announced that it has closed its Series A financing round of $10 million. The funding round was led by Intel Capital with participation from Visionnaire Ventures and existing investors True Ventures and Nexus Venture Partners. This follows the company's seed funding of $3.2 million in October 2012, bringing the total to $13.2 million in funding to date.

"We've seen incredible global adoption of our platform among all parts of the app ecosystem, from games to m-commerce, to lifestyle apps," said Abinash Tripathy, co-founder and CEO, Helpshift. "We've realized we have something that most mobile companies could benefit from and the only challenge for us has been the ability to scale to meet the explosive demand. This round of funding will enable us to attack each of these major mobile verticals and bring the benefits of Helpshift to thousands of app publishers," he said.

In just one year, Helpshift has been installed on more than 150 million devices and reduced incoming support tickets by more than 90 percent for leading companies including Supercell, Glu Mobile, Flipboard and other top app publishers. Helpshift is fast becoming the customer management platform for mobile publishers interested in increasing user engagement and lowering churn.

To climb to the top of the charts and stay relevant in the highly competitive world of mobile apps, companies need to communicate with their customers and directly engage with them in their apps. The biggest problem in the app economy today is that more than 90 percent of the users that download an app churn away in the first 90 days. Helpshift provides a native mobile SDK that can be integrated into any mobile app to enable two-way communications, helping companies talk to their customers directly inside their apps. Higher engagement with users in-app improves the overall customer experience, and drives higher app store ratings and has been proven to reduce churn by 40 percent.

"Mobile gaming is the most significant app economy today, and as a result, most customer centric innovation in mobile happens here. As a media executive and investor, Helpshift's machine learning based CRM technology allows leading gaming and m-commerce companies to focus their interactions with users in near tailored approach. Smart. So it's not surprising Helpshift is rapidly being adopted by the who's-who of the gaming industry. And we, at Visionnaire Ventures, are backing Helpshift to continue growing their global footprint, while delivering great customer experiences," said Taizo Son, co-founder, GungHo Online Entertainment Inc., and an L.P. of Visionnaire Ventures. Susan Choe, managing partner at Visionnaire Ventures will be joining the Helpshift board.

You’ve Seen VR, Now Hear VR

Visisonics Demonstrates Proprietary RealSpace 3D Audio for VR and Gaming During E3

COLLEGE PARK, Maryland – June 102014 - VisiSonics Corp. announces the availability of its RealSpace 3D Audio for Virtual Reality (VR) and traditional non-VR gaming across multiple gaming platforms.  RealSpace 3D Audio greatly enhances the VR visual experience by delivering unprecedented natural sounding 3D audio.  With pinpoint accuracy, audio effects can be dynamically placed within a 3D soundscape to match the visuals enveloping a player for a more complete VR experience.  Hear it for yourself at booth #2557 in South Hall during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles this week. VisiSonics’ leadership will be on hand to demonstrate the technology using the Oculus Rift VR headset and other platforms.

“By leveraging the head tracking capabilities of the Oculus Rift, we can use RealSpace 3D Audio to create an unheard of, literally 3D audio experience,” said Ramani Duraiswami, Founder and President of VisiSonics. “For example, as you move through the Rift Tuscany demo, the sound realistically follows you. The addition of 360 degree audio to a virtual reality environment is a true game changer!”

RealSpace 3D Audio fulfills 10 years of academic and commercial research resulting in superior 3D audio never before available, and delivered through off the shelf audio headphones. RealSpace 3D Audio is the virtual placement of sound anywhere in a 3D space with pinpoint accuracy, creating the perception of real source direction, distance, depth, and movement relative to the listener. VisiSonics’ founders developed proprietary, processor-efficient, physics-based algorithms giving the listener the experience of actually being present within the scene. Commercial applications are far ranging and touch any consumption of audio over headphones, including games, VR, simulations, movies and music.

Creating a realistic 3D soundscape requires breaking down the process by which humans perceive sound. This includes how sounds reflect in rooms and off objects in a 3D environment, taking into account the nature of the walls. The technology even factors in the individual shape of the listener’s body including distance between ears and size of head and torso. VisiSonics’ proprietary algorithms take account for all of these elements.

RealSpace 3D Audio is available now as a Unity plugin for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. Releases for the Wwise Audio Engine, FMOD Studio and other VR platforms are planned.

About VisiSonics
VisiSonics technology is based on research from the "Perceptual Interfaces and Reality Laboratory" at the University of Maryland. The technology was initially developed in support of a simulation facility that recreated a natural sounding street environment over stereo headsets, to be used in helping newly blinded soldiers returning from war. Using the simulation they learned to trust their ears instead of their eyes while crossing a street.  The ability to position sound in any x, y, z coordinate and have realistic ambience was mandatory in order to keep the human brain engaged in the experience.  VisiSonics is now bringing this technology to video gaming and virtual reality across multiple platforms. For more information visit:

VisiSonics will be demonstrating their RealSpace 3D Audio software and hardware at E3 in booth 2557.

CD Projekt RED Using Simplygon to Deliver Incredible Next Generation Graphics on Xbox ONE, PlayStation 4 and High End PCs

Linköping, Sweden - May 26, 2014 - Simplygon, the leading provider of automatic 3D optimization solutions for digital content creation, and CD Projekt RED, creators of the hugely popular Witcher series, today announced that Simplygon is an important component in the graphics development of the PC, Xbox ONE, and PlayStation®4 versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Simplygon automatically creates multiple levels of LODs (Level of Detail) models for games without additional development time, often saving teams tens of thousands of hours as they optimize titles for release.

"The Witcher 3 is a beautiful, highly immersive game," said Martin Ekdal, Vice President and Co-Founder of Donya Labs. "Despite still being in development, the game is already being praised for its graphical fidelity, and we're confident that CD Projekt RED's use of Simplygon will save the company both significant development time and budget as they create this genre defining title," Ekdal added.

"Simplygon is an excellent tool that allows us to more easily create and control our LODs both for environments and characters. The time and effort saved in optimization, usually a tedious task, gives us more time to do the things we prefer to do, thereby enriching the game development experience and the final product." said John Mamais, Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Executive Producer.

Simplygon enables its partners to get the most from their development process by automatically optimizing 3D-assets for animation, games, CAD and film. This provides customers with all the benefits of Level of Detail (LOD) models, but none of the usual drawbacks, such as time and resource-consuming manual work, increased production time, and higher development cost. In addition, Simplygon results in a higher and more consistent LOD quality, with LOD models available earlier and throughout the production chain, and more content being able to be shown on screen, which gives increased visual quality.

Simplygon 6.0 Now Available

Visibility Feature Gives 3D Digital Content Creators Optimization Within a Single Model Based on Perspective

Simplygon 6 - 1Linköping, Sweden - May 8, 2014 - Simplygon, the leading provider of automatic 3D optimization solutions for digital content creation, today announced that Simplygon 6.0 is now available. The new version of Simplygon introduces new features that will raise the quality of Level of Detail (LOD) models, meshes and scenes created using the software. A key feature is Visibility, which enables Simplygon 6.0 to intelligently cull parts of models that the end-user doesn’t see, while maintaining higher detail in the visible parts of the models.

Simplygon 6.0 also reduces the number of draw calls, further enhancing performance. To set up a trial of Simplygon or learn more, please contact  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

“Simplygon 6.0 adds a number of features and improvements that the community has asked for, as well as some that our team have developed to optimize and improve the experience,” said Martin Ekdal, Vice President and Co-Founder of Donya Labs. “It’s seems like it would be impossible to deliver higher-quality LOD models while using less draw calls and fewer polygons, but we’re doing exactly that with 6.0. With the new Visibility feature, Simplygon now intelligently builds the LODs by maintaining higher detail in the visible spectrum while removing the parts that aren’t seen, all within a single model.”

Improvements in Simplygon 6.0Simplygon 6-2

• New Normal Calculator – Significantly improved normal handling in the reducer as it handles mesh normals in a much better fashion.
• Support for Multiple Mapping Images and Multiple Material Output while casting - Now API users can cast multiple output materials from the API, which allows for more freedom.
• Automatic symmetry and detection
• Improved Atlas Packing and Parameterization When Generating Texture Coordinates - Meaning better texture parameterization.
• Scene Aggregator / Aggregate LOD - A new way of reducing draw calls. Combine meshes and cast new materials while keeping the UV data from the original meshes intact and allowing for better UV utilization.
• Visibility aided MeshLODs - MeshLOD reduction now takes into account where the mesh is visible from, which allows the processor to keep part of a model visible and cull the parts that are not.
• Visibility aided MaterialLODs - With visibility, the caster will add more texture details to parts that are visible.
• Material LOD: Material Replacement – An additional material LOD feature to reduce draw calls. Instead of baking materials you can tell Simplygon to find replace with existing materials.
• User / Visibility weighting for UV's – Users can choose to add more texture detail when they want.
• New and Improved Next-Generation Material Caster - now it’s multi-threaded.
• Massive speed improvements with multi-core support

Simplygon enables its partners to get the most from their development process by automatically optimizing 3D-assets for animation, games, CAD and film. This provides customers with all the benefits of Level of Detail (LOD) models, but none of the usual drawbacks, such as time and resource-consuming manual work, increased production time, and higher development cost. Highwinds and Eve

CCP Games Taps the Power of Highwinds Game Delivery Network for EVE Online

WINTER PARK, Fla. – April 30, 2014 – Highwinds® today announced that its Game Delivery Network™ (GDN™) is being leveraged for the delivery of the popular EVE Online massively multiplayer online (MMO) game. EVE’s creator, CCP Games, began working with Highwinds two years ago, and while the business relationship was initially established as a secondary content delivery network (CDN) to CCP’s incumbent provider, Highwinds GDN has since become the primary CDN for downloads and updates of EVE Online.

Maintaining exceptional gaming experiences has been a focal point throughout the partnership, particularly as CCP continues cultivating the EVEcommunity and releasing new game updates. EVE Online’s subscriber base has grown steadily since its introduction in May 2003. It currently has over 500,000 subscribers worldwide, and the number of concurrent gamers often exceeds 50,000. Last year, CCP expanded the EVE franchise with the release of DUST 514, a multiplayer first-person shooter game set within the EVEUniverse. The EVE Universe will be expanded again soon with EVE: Valkyrie.

“Highwinds became our primary CDN because performance matters. With them we get great delivery, global reach and excellent user experiences. We also get extensive flexibility and exemplary service,” said Jón Hörðdal Jónasson, chief operating officer at CCP. “Some of our systems are more dynamic and complex than the average game company, but Highwinds has overcome every technical challenge we’ve thrown at them.”

Highwinds GDN addresses the unique challenges of delivering online games to connected devices. CCP, and dozens of other developers and publishers using the GDN, benefit from faster downloads, higher completion rates, secure content delivery and real-time analytics. Gamers benefit from reliable gameplay and faster access to new updates anywhere in the world because of the fast response times and high throughput rates provided by Highwinds’ global network.

“Highwinds offers a consultative approach built on gaming industry expertise, and we believe heavily in teamwork. It’s phone and in-person access to our solutions engineers, people who really get it. It’s scalable solutions and flexible contracts. It’s a desire to be part of our customers’ gaming communities and vested in each game’s success,” said Steve Miller, founder and CEO of Highwinds. “All of these things are evident in our partnership with CCP.”

CCP works hard to build the EVE community both inside its MMOs and at real-world gaming events, and as a result, the company is known to have one of the most loyal fan bases in the industry. CCP’s Fanfest event is an annual celebration of the virtual universe it created and the community that embraces it. It was one of the first events of its kind, and it has a massive turnout every year. Fanfest 2014 will be held May 1-3 in Reykjavik, Iceland, where CCP is headquartered. Highwinds is a sponsor of Fanfest 2014, and it will have onsite representation during the event.

I couldn’t be happier to announce that Simplygon is our official LOD tool for Star Citizen.”

Teams, evaluated on their game development talent and entrepreneurial aspirations, are given space to work, take part in classes, take advantage of “office hours” with incubator leadership and mentors, and have the opportunity to attend regular networking, demonstration and pitch events.

In return, Game CoLab and the City of Phoenix hope to stimulate the local economy and game community by creating sustainable ventures and jobs.

Game CoLab is headed by Ben Reichert, Adjunct Professor at University of Advancing Technology and former Assistant Director at the Arizona State University Center for Games and Impact, and is advised by game industry veterans Mario Vassaux, game industry executive, formerly at FormGen – distributor of games like Doom and Duke Nukem 3D; Sean Kauppinen, Founder and CEO at International Digital Entertainment Agency; Marc Jackson, CEO and Founder at Seahorn Capital Group; and Brion Crum, Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch.

“Phoenix is home to a lot of great game development and industry executive talent and the Game CoLab has been a space for the community to get together and share best practices. Thanks to the City of Phoenix, the incubator program will allow us to take our work to the next level and assist local teams in the process of creating successful games and studios,” said Mr. Reichert. “We have been given the opportunity to support the video game industry in Arizona, and while the focus has so far been purely on entertainment, games can impact key economic drivers for Phoenix including health, learning and business services. The Game CoLab will be actively reaching out to other industries as well as we look to identify partners that can support our goals.”

Applications for the program are now open. Interested parties can sign up through the Game CoLab website,
